Philippians 1:15-18 15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 The former[b] preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
The Easter Celebration is upon us. Many people are celebrating Good Friday but most don’t even understand the significance. Still, some would say Easter is nothing more than Christians going along with pagan traditions. For most of us, 1700 years of Christian tradition has solidified the understanding of our resurrected Lord. Christ died and on the third day, He rose again. (1 Cor 15:4) It was quite reassuring to see all the crosses, stuffed lambs, and children’s books, telling the truth of salvation, at our local Target store. It may be commercialization of this holiday but it is spreading the Gospel, to those who know and resist, and to those that haven’t heard but may be touched by the treats found on Easter morning.
The word Easter is synonymous with Christ’s Resurrection. Limiting your understanding of Easter to a mere celebration of Spring denies how Christ is preached through every part of humanity, when we allow Him.
