Lopez Island

Today's excursion was to one of the San Juan Islands- Lopez Island. This is the first stop on the Anacortes-San Juan Islands ferry run. To our surprise, the fare is $45 for car and driver and passengers are $10-$13, each. Wow! Fortunately, our excursion was actually a work day (for me) so the expense was covered. Funny how I worked it that way. The ferry ride was entertaining and beautiful.

The kids seemed to have a great time, although walking 2 miles to the state park was a bit tiring for them, mainly because they went the wrong way and ended up doing some unnecessary walking. They drank a lot of water and enjoyed the company of their cousin, Adrian. We don't get to see him much these days so sharing their first trip to the island was a treat.

Wow. That would've been an expensive ferry ride. Sounds like the kids had a good time overall though :D
