Dinner With the Kids Tablescape Thursday

roses and teapotStaffordshire Teapot, roses from my yard

I’m not sure if this really qualifies for a tablescape, but last night, as we all sat at the dinner table, I realized how good my kids look.  It’s not that they are especially beautiful.  Of course I think they’re beautiful, but maybe no one else does.  Even suffering through my cooking, they look happy.  They are appreciative of my effort to feed them.  Without my beautiful children, my table would be sad and lonely.  I was going to complete the tablescape based on the roses and teapot until the dinner table with the kids became more interesting to me.  Hope this is a little interesting to you.

Sarah was happy to be in the photo, but the boys weren’t that excited.  You can see their plates.

The dishes are Nova, by Sango.  If you pay attention, you will see Brenda Lee Johnson from The Closer (TNT original) has the same dishes.  I always get a kick out of seeing “my stuff” on TV shows.  Malcom in the Middle had the same placemats as me, years ago.

I had to say “suffer” through my cooking because I forgot the salt and the mustard in the beef stroganoff tonight.  Too anxious to get dinner to the table I guess.

I am linking this post with Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.  When you see her posts, then you will understand “tablescape.”  Her table is gorgeous.  It’s a goal!

Had I known we wouldn’t be in a hurry after dinner to leave for Bible study, because of the manhunt outside my house, I may have reviewed my recipe before taking the stroganoff to the table.  The manhunt ended up closing the highway and they asked us to stay in our homes while they searched for the suspect.  I wasn’t sure what was going on so I opted to not open any doors and just stay out of the way until more was known.  We really appreciate living close to the grocery store and highway access but it also makes our neighborhood a little accessible to crazy people.  The police presence was fantastic and they settled the matter rather quickly.  Just the same, we missed Bible study.

oh my goodness! thank you God for police officers who protect us from these crazy people.

Your daughter looks adorable, she must be so sweet. Yes, I agree with you, our tables would be so lonely without kids.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I think this is beautiful, indeed because family is gathered regardless of what adorns the table! This is what most of our suppers look like anyway - simple and functional, with people being the focus. (We've been a little TOO functional lately, in fact, so I am slowly trying to re-introduce 'adornment' back to the table, starting with placemats. LOL. Baby steps, you know.)

I enjoy your creativity Beth. Time with family around the table is the best adornment, pictures of the boys would probably make it more complete but I can visualize them. We missed you at bible study.
